Joys

Everything happens so much. Such simple things bring me joy, and yet the demands of modern life so frequently steal these moments away. Here is a collection of tiny, mundane sensory experiences that make life markedly better.

Rituals

  • Herbal tea in the morning that complements the day's weather
  • Yoga in the morning or before bed. Stretcha like a cat.
  • Windows open during the temperate months, with a breeze blown through
  • Cooking a meal. Slow prep, with the right music playing.
  • Soup from a mug, with a handle, before getting ready for bed. Last meal of the day.
  • Freshly laundered sheets after a shower

Reasons to Live

  • Ducks plopping into water from the shore
  • A squirrel in a tree, squeakily crunching on a nut
  • Leaves under the frozen surface of water
  • The sound of a train passing in the distance. The dissonant harmony of the horn combines with the rumble of the cars to generate brief, beautiful droning pieces of music.

This section's name taken directly from Reasons to Live, a split album by Paperbark and r beny.
